Following our recent AGM, we are heading into the 2026/27 season with some exciting changes, and we wanted to share an update with our fantastic Lakenheath community!

🎖️ A Massive Thank You to Richard
First and foremost, the entire club wants to extend a massive, heartfelt thank you to our outgoing Chairman, Richard Horrex. Richard has poured endless time, energy, and passion into LYFC over the years, leaving the club in a fantastic, thriving position.
The good news? He isn't escaping us entirely! Richard is staying on the committee to serve as our new Club Treasurer, so his invaluable experience will keep helping us move forward. Thank you for everything, Richard! 🙌

📋 Introducing the 2026/27 Committee Team
Taking over the reins as your new Chairman is Shane Howe. Alongside a brilliant mix of returning and new faces, our core executive committee for the season ahead includes:

Treasurer: Richard Horrex
Child Welfare Officer (CWO): Zoe Hovell

Supported by our dedicated media, fundraising, and general committee members, we are all fully committed to keeping LYFC a safe, fun, and inclusive place for youth football!

🚀 Improving Our Club & Facilities
Our main focus this year is to build directly on the incredible foundations already in place while continuously upgrading the experience for our players and families.
Pitch & Ground Maintenance: We are introducing a proactive, team-shared maintenance and watering schedule over the summer to ensure our playing fields stay in peak, green condition for matchdays.
Modernized Communication: We are streamlining club-wide updates into a central WhatsApp Community, making it easier than ever for parents to stay informed without adding to our coaches' administrative workloads.
Coach Development & Safety: We are strictly ensuring all of our coaches hold up-to-date FA DBS checks, Level 1 Safeguarding, and First Aid courses, guaranteeing top-tier care and development for every child.

🌟 Our Fantastic Community Programmes
Lakenheath Youth FC is more than just a club—we are a community! We are incredibly proud to offer a wide range of pathways, events, and community nights:

⚽ Open Training Sessions: Completely free weekly Sunday sessions (Ages 5–8) focused on football, fun, and building early confidence on the ball!

🌸 Weetabix Wildcats: Incredible, dedicated girls' football sessions (Ages 5–8) packed with fun, games, and smiles designed to introduce young girls to the game.

🏆 The LYFC Challenge Cup: Our highly anticipated annual tournament bringing teams together for some fantastic, competitive grassroots football.

🤝 Charity Matches & Events: Giving back is at the heart of what we do, and our community charity matches bring everyone together for great causes.

🎱 Monthly Bingo Nights: Fun for the whole family! Held every month at Lakenheath FC (The Pit, Back St), these popular nights feature brilliant cash prizes, money pots, and a great atmosphere, with all money raised going directly back into supporting Lakenheath Youth FC.
